AV MOD MATERIAL: NARUTO Ch. 638 Review
Obito has become the Jinchūriki of the Ten-Tailed Beast and reached a level not seen since the Sage of Six Paths. However, how much control does he have?
The Good
A memory that sticks in my mind from my youth was watching TWILIGHT ZONE THE MOVIE. In fact, I'm pretty sure I was too young to be watching that. I'm still haunted by nightmares of that freaking rabbit -- only Google it if you want to share my night terrors. It was part of a short-story about a woman who basically stumbles into a family that is being tormented by their child, who has the powers of a god. Anything he wills to happen becomes reality. When the adults try to deny his childish demands, they're met with cruel retaliation.
Obito already had the personality of a man-boy, but now he has the powers of a god behind him. I've been vocal in my disappointment of him as a villain, but now I'm actually worried of what he's capable of doing with the power of the Ten-Tails. Judging by his actions this week, it's hard to tell how much of his personality is left in there.
The Bad
I'm having a hard time believing that Naruto would notice something was wrong with Obito's actions beforeMadara. If you're playing a game, aren't you the first to notice when your inputs aren't following the action on the screen?
Part of what excites me about these events is that it means this war arc may finally be concluding, butGyuki drops a line in here that implies that there could possibly be one more evolution of the Ten-Tails. I find myself having Frieza flashbacks.
Verdict 4/5
The series has been having a rather dramatic improvement recently. I seem to be noticing the pattern that enjoyment rises as Obito speaks less. The colored version of this chapter appears to have been an exclusive to the digital editions of WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP. It took some getting used to, but I enjoyed the color work. It doesn't have a great deal of depth, but what does one expect in a series designed to be published weekly? I wouldn't want it every week, but I liked it.
